February 2, 2020 East York U19 vs. Markham Elite U17
Fun Facts: 1) Connor, Ivan, and Dani are DNP – injured! Justin is DNP. 2) East York’s score is the lowest in all their 4 games. They were averaging 70 PPG. 3) We are 1-2 against all East York teams. 4) Both teams scored 18 PTS on layups and have 15 AST each. 5) Our 28 PTS in 2Q is our highest production in one quarter this season. 6) We scored 19 consecutive PTS on our way to a 20-point lead. We eventually lost(!) that lead and trailed by 3. 2 consecutive 3FGMs gave us the lead for good. 7) Our collapse in the 3Q was due to only 2 FGs made (2/7), all FTs missed (0/8), and 7 turnovers. 8) Surprisingly, we were competitive in REBs (44-49) against the East York giants. We even had more BLKs (8-5). 9) Harsh’s 4 3-pointers in one quarter is the most by any MUMBA player since we started keeping track of stats. 10) Noah had a double-double: 14 PTS 11 REB. 11) At 6th place, it is the first time our Starting 5 players are not in the top 3 most efficient combinations. 12) Our 51.5 FG% (23/45) is our highest this season. Our shot selections were less reckless than in the past. 13) 42% of our field goal attempts were very close to the hoop, a sign we want the highest-percentage shots (11 layups and 8 jumps). 14) It is the first time the top 4 out of 5 most efficient players were not from the Starting 5 (Noah, Harsh, Bill, David). Deep bench! 15) Armaan probably had 5 fouls, and he got away with it. 16) This is the 3rd time we won the Gold after being up 3W-0L prior to the finals game. 17) Harsh’s 5 STLs is his career-high the last 2 years (tied with Hoopdome 2019 Game 3). 18) In all 4 quarters, the last FG of the quarter came from an assist. February 2, 2020 Markham Elite U17 vs. Ancaster Blitz Basketball Leslie/Difederico U19
Fun Facts: 1) Dani, Ivan, and Justin are DNP. 2) We led after the 1Q (17-13). Ancaster made 2 quick FGs at the start of the 2Q to tie the game and then they took the lead (19-21). 3) In the next 4 minutes, we stole the ball 6 times, deflected the ball 3 times, and scored 16 consecutive PTS. 4) Just like the previous game, the 1st half ended with the wrong score (should be 36-25, not 37-25). Scorer credited Josh his last FT by mistake. Both games ended the 1st half with a missed FT but credited as made. Coincidence! 5) In the 3Q, Connor sprained his ankle. Exactly 5 seconds later on the same play, Seth’s ankle “popped out and back in again”. Both injuries were on layups on the same possession, by the 2 guards attacking the basket on a non-fastbreak situation. 6) In the 4Q, Ancaster only had 1FG and 2 FTs. 4 PTS is the record lowest made by an opponent in a quarter. 7) Next up: finals! The last 2 times we were up 3-0 prior to the finals game, we got Gold. Shot Zone Performance: How successful are we in shooting from different areas on the floor? February 1, 2020 Orangeville Hustlers U19 vs. Markham Elite U17
Fun Facts: 1) Bill, Dani, Charles, and Jasper are DNP. 2) We completely dominated the 1Q: PTS (15-7), REB (14-6), STL (5-3), AST (4-2), BLK (1-0), and FT (4-0). 3) Orangeville’s 6 triples in the 2Q brought them closer to the game, one of which is the buzzer-beater to end the 2Q. 4) Two technicals were given in 2Q: Seth for clapping, and Orangeville’s coach for excessive complaining. 5) 1st-half score should be 35-31, not 36-31. Scorer credited Dylan his last FT by mistake. 6) Orangeville finally took the lead on the 3Q, making 4 more 3’s and some difficult shots. 7) Dylan had a technical in the 3Q. A parent on the bleachers was warned by the ref. 8) Orangeville’s 13 3-pointers against us is a record. The previous record for the # of 3’s by an opponent was 12 by Bayan at the U16 OBA. 9) We scored 20 PTS each in the 2Q, 3Q, and 4Q. 10) Connor scored 23 PTS, his career high with this team (last 2 years). 11) Connor made 13 FTs, the team record for the most FT points in a single game. 12) Connor was fouled 12 times, the team record for the most fouled player in a single game. January 17, 2020 (Scrimmage) Markham Elite U17 vs. Top Notch Stars
@ Stouffville District Secondary School, Whitchurch-Stouffville Final score should be 59-56. Scorers missed a FT and a 2FG, so the shot clock is wrong. We trailed by 8 after losing our 18-point lead, due to 4 consecutive bad passes in the 3Q. 4 consecutive assists started our comeback. NEVER. EVER. GIVE. UP.
